As of 2001 there are 108,000 farms in Missouri, the second largest number in any state. Missouri produces the most lead of any state and also ranks first in the production of lime. There are also two Federal Reserve Banks, the only state in the Union to have this.The main economic growth areas in Missouri right now are Kansas City and Missouri. Kansas City is experiencing a very strong year in the commercial real estate market as a whole.

The market built 2 million square feet and produced 2.4 million square feet of net absorption. Vacancy dropped 2.8 percent in the office market and continued to be strong throughout year. The retail market also continues to be very strong with many new development projects under way. The St. Louis commercial real estate market enjoyed a very healthy 2007, centered by an increase of 18,000 new jobs, the most since 1999. Office absorption totaled 1.5 million square feet. Class A office building vacancy dropped to 6.8%. Retail development has continued to increase as new projects are being built throughout the city. St. Louis remains a very strong commercial real estate market and will continue to grow in the next few years.
