During the first semester of 2008, Omaha experienced record absorption, which amounted to 472,000 square feet of office space. The current vacancy rate is down 1.3%, 14.4%, from the beginning of 2007. This has happened with over 845,000 new square feet of commercial real estate constructed in the past six months. Overall, the commercial real estate market in Nebraska is doing amazing and is withstanding the struggles of the national economy.
