Houston is recognized worldwide for its energy industry – particularly for oil and natural gas- as well as for biomedical research and aeronautics. Considered to be the energy capital of the world, five of the six super major energy companies maintain a large base of operations using industrial space in Houston (ConocoPhillips, Exxon-Mobil, and Shell Oil).
Houston industrial space is home to more than 10,700 manufacturing establishments. The city ranks as a Gold Medal World-Class Community for Manufacturing for several years straight. Houston is projected to experience a 2.7 percent increase in manufacturing employment by 2012.
